I have been working in the travel industry for over 18 years and have had my share of travel, but somehow the idea of cruising never excited me. A lot of questions surrounding sustainability, responsibility and ethical travel practices came to mind, and for me most of it was at odds with taking a cruise.

Just 15 miles off the coast of S. America lies the small island of Aruba. Best known for its white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, Aruba has been consistently earning its place on the Best Beaches of the World lists. With direct flights from many US gateways, this destination attracts a high amount of return visitors each year. This year I wanted to experience it for myself, and I took my husband and two small daughters on a family vacation to Riu Palace Aruba.
