Hotel Ambassador is one of the newer properties in Split, opened in 2022, and you feel that immediately. Clean lines, modern finishes, everything working exactly as it should. No surprises, no quirks, no “charm over comfort” compromises.
And then there’s the location.
It’s the only hotel directly on the promenade. Not near it, not a short walk away. On it. Which means you step outside and you’re already in the rhythm of Split. The harbor, the cafés, the energy, all right there. And yet, somehow, it still manages to feel just removed enough to be calm when you need it.
Everything is within walking distance. Old Town, restaurants, bars, departure points for island hopping. If your priority is ease, this is one of the simplest stays you can choose.
The hotel itself is larger, with a layout that feels more structured and consistent. About 60 percent of the rooms have a sea view, and when they say sea view, they mean it. You’re not leaning out the window trying to find a sliver of water. You’re facing it directly.
Location and Setting
And I have to mention the bed placement, because it stood out to me. The beds are positioned in the middle of the room, facing outward. In the sea view rooms especially, it creates this feeling of being almost on the water. You wake up, and that’s your view. It’s a small design choice that completely changes how the room feels.
Room categories are straightforward. Classic rooms face the street, superior rooms offer street, city, or sea views, and premium rooms give you both city and sea views along with a balcony. There are 31 rooms with balconies, and if that outdoor space matters to you, you’ll want to go for the premium category.
One important detail to know. The design is consistent across all rooms, which is great from a quality standpoint, but it also means there’s limited flexibility. Because of the layout, you can’t add a rollaway bed. So this is not the best fit for families needing extra bedding in one room.
That said, they do offer guaranteed connecting rooms, and they have about 20 rooms with twin beds, which makes planning for certain groups much easier.
The overall feel is modern, clean, and very much what I would call a “well done large hotel.” It’s not trying to be unique or boutique. It’s delivering consistency, comfort, and location, and it does that well.
There’s one restaurant on site, focused on Mediterranean cuisine. It’s good, reliable, and easy, especially after a long day out. But given where you are, you’ll likely find yourself exploring the surrounding restaurants just steps away.

The spa is included in your stay, which is always a nice touch. A gym, two saunas, and a salt room, all designed for quick resets rather than long spa days.
Then there’s the rooftop.
A beautiful pool and bar with views that remind you exactly why you’re in Split. This is where the hotel really shines in the evenings.
They also offer private boat transfers and experiences, which is something I always look for in a property at this level. It makes planning smooth and keeps everything connected.
Parking on site is another practical advantage, especially for clients doing a broader Croatia itinerary with a car.
So who is this for?
Who It Fits Best
If you want something modern, easy, and perfectly located, this is a very strong choice. If you want to walk everywhere, wake up to the sea, and not think too much about logistics, this works.
If you’re looking for charm, history, or something highly personalized and boutique, you may find it a bit too structured, a bit too “perfect.”
For couples and friends, it’s ideal.
For families, it works with the right room setup, but requires a bit more planning.
For clients who want a quieter base while still being steps from everything, with both city and sea views, this is exactly the kind of hotel I recommend.
It does what it promises, and it does it well.
