Opened in 2020, The Aerial was initially available only as a private island buyout. But as of July 2023, they’ve launched a “hotel program,” allowing guests to book individual rooms while still keeping the option to book the entire island if you’re hosting a special event. This flexibility makes it ideal for solo travelers, couples, small weddings or groups who want an exclusive feel.

The property itself is thoughtfully designed with 16 unique rooms across three main houses and two hillside palapas. Each room is totally unique and individual, all of them have outdoor showers and one has a full outdoor bathroom. Because of the unique nature of each room, guest services work with travel advisors to ensure that guests pick the right room for their needs.

Room numbers are replaced with inspirational names like Joy, Dream, and Wisdom, and the resort’s focus on deep wellness infuses every activity, meal, and moment on property. Rooms have a rustic/luxe boutique vibe with rich tapestries, hanging chairs, carved wood furniture and different textures, including driftwood, macrame and coral. All rooms have a tea/coffee station and mini-bar set up which is replenished daily. Many of the rooms have outdoor spaces like private balconies, a terrace or patio or even a private star-gazing deck. The indoor and outdoor elements blend beautifully.

Food at The Aerial is all about wellness. Meals are nutritionally balanced with a plant-based and pescatarian-friendly focus – and you won’t find refined sugars, preservatives, or artificial colorings here. Even the cocktails and mocktails are designed with wellness in mind, infused with superfoods that make each sip nourishing. Here, breakfast begins with a wellness shot and offers chilled options like overnight oats and fresh fruit, followed by an à la carte menu featuring choices like caramelized banana protein waffles and huevos rancheros. Guests select their lunch and dinner options each morning. Communal dining is encouraged to create a sense of community, but private dining is available if you’d rather have some quiet time. And yes, while the focus is on wellness, dairy and alcohol are available too!
