One afternoon of my Terre Blanche stay involved lunch at La Guérite in Cannes. The atmosphere could hardly have been more different from the quiet paths and birdsong back at the resort. That was exactly why I enjoyed the combination.
Terre Blanche sits inland in the Pays de Fayence, while Cannes is roughly 35 minutes away in normal conditions and Nice Airport is about 45 minutes according to the resort. My own airport transfers were around an hour. On the way in, traffic sent us over a winding mountain road that I would not choose for anyone prone to motion sickness. The highway route on the return was smoother and felt much easier.
The location gives us an interesting planning option, but I would not sell it as one hotel from which you can conquer the entire South of France. The better idea is that the same stay can point in two very different directions.

Can you combine Provence and the French Riviera from Terre Blanche?
For selected outings, yes. Cannes makes sense as a day or afternoon from the resort. You can have a lively Riviera lunch, walk around for a while and then return to a much quieter evening inland.
That does not make Terre Blanche a substitute for staying on the coast. If your dream is to wake up overlooking the Mediterranean, walk to the beach and spend every evening along the Riviera, I would still put you on the Riviera.
Terre Blanche works differently. It gives you access to the coast without requiring the coast to set the tone for the entire stay.

What is in the other direction?
This is the part I wish I had explored more. We drove through countryside that kept making me look out the window: a beautiful lake, small towns, vineyards and the landscapes of inland Provence. We visited a winery and had lunch about an hour from the resort, but I came away with more questions than answers about the region.
Three nights at Terre Blanche did not make me feel that I had seen Provence. They made me want to come back and see more of it.
For clients, I would treat the Pays de Fayence and surrounding wine country as something worth planning intentionally rather than squeezing between spa appointments. Terre Blanche itself promotes regional wine experiences, and the concierge can arrange outings beyond the resort.

Would I use Terre Blanche at the beginning or end of a Riviera trip?
Yes, particularly with Nice Airport involved. I arrived and departed through Nice, and the transfer felt manageable enough that I would happily use Terre Blanche at either end of a larger South of France itinerary.
A few quiet nights after busier Riviera days could work beautifully. So could beginning at Terre Blanche, getting over jet lag somewhere spacious and calm, and then moving toward the coast.

Who should not use Terre Blanche as a base?
Someone who wants to walk out of the hotel into a Provençal village every morning may prefer a village hotel. Someone planning consecutive coastal days may be happier staying on the coast. And someone who dislikes getting into a car on vacation should be realistic about how Terre Blanche works.
For everyone else, the location creates choice. One day can be Cannes. Another can be wine country. Another can involve absolutely no car at all. That is a much more appealing use of the geography than trying to prove how many places we can reach before dinner.
